I have really straight hair...any ideas on how to scrunch it?

I have hair that is straight, thick, and a little past the shoulders. I really want to have that scrunched wavy look. I've tried diffusing and using styling gel, mousse, and creams. It works for a few minutes but never stays in even with hair spray.

Any ideas?

I KNOW!

What you do is put moose in your hair and put it in a bun ( swirls bun) After that you cover your bun in hairspray. Then you leave it in for at lest 5 hrs. (Or over-night) After at least 5 hrs- take out the bun, and scrunch it up with more moose and GEL.

When your done your hair will look Fabulous!

well, i'm not sure how this'll work, but my friend says she does it like this.

she takes a shower at night and scrunches it while it's still wet and then puts it up in a bun overnight. she says that in the morning when she takes it down it's curly.

i'm not sure how this will work, but you could give it a shot on a weekend or sometime when you have time to fix your hair if necessary.

i have the same problem...

okay so heres what you do:

buy guy's super hold gel.

wet your hair and let it air dry to the point where its just damp.

scrunch gel into your hair (may take a lot) and do that for about two minutes.

hair spray...

then take out your hairdryer.

scrunch the hair up in your hands like you did with the gel and put the dryer where theres a space at the top of your hand. hold it there till the section of hair is too hot/your hand is too hot to hold anymore. do that in sections.

then after youre done hairspray it agian.

it should hold.

your hair probably doesn't hold a curl. you can try putting some curl product in your wet hair, and then braiding it - this will give you waves. you might have to resort to heat (hot rollers, curling iron), but even this doesn't work on a lot of people, and if not done the right way, can look unnatural and be damaging. if you really want your hair to be scrunchy, you might want to try a very slight perm (no, not an eighties poodle perm :)), and this will allow your hair to keep a little more curl.

Braid wet to damp hair with product in the hair, mousse or spray gel works best. (stronger gels just make hair crunchy and pull when you go to style.) when dry take out than take a pomade, texture twist or shine serum on hands and run through to slightly separate. Not too much or will make hair limp and or greasy. if want more support spray and scrunch hairspray or more spray gel.
