Is it true that thick hair cannot have layers becasue it poofs your hair out?

I have thick hair but i dont want the straight across cut. i heard that it makes your hair more poofy and harder to deal w. to have layers but i wanna have it soo bad. any ideas for thick hair ?

Is it true that thick hair cannot have layers becasue it poofs your hair out?

Not true. I have very thick and wavy hair and I have several layers. I don't like my hair one length because it gets too heavy and looks borr-ring. Having several layers in my hair gives it lots of movement. Layered hair is very vesatile and easier to style than one-length hair. I can straighten, scrunch, or curl my hair and it will hold easily because the extra weight isn't there. When you get your hair cut you will be able to feel the weight come off if you get some layers. I definitely think you should go for it!

Hope I helped!

Here are some cute pics of choppy layers:

If you layer the front of your face (the sides) it is okay because that part of the hair is naturally a differnet texture. However if you layer the back, it will poof

Never heard it does that. I have VERY thick hair and had it layered it was cool, but annoying to me. (couldnt tie my hair back it would all fall out)

I have really thick hair and it is wavy/curly. My hair has long layers and side bangs. This style works for almost every face shape. If you normally staighten your hair or could blowdry your bangs so they do not poof up, this would be a great style for you. Or you could just get the long layers with no bangs. Long layers add movement and are really cute, but choppy layers or layers starting above the shoulders add too much bulk and are really hard to deal with. Hopefully you have long hair, because this weighs the hair down and works much better for girls with thick hair. Hope this helps!

Well,

I have REALLY THICK hair, and I have long layers. At first it is a little annoying because your hair won't all go in a ponytail, but once it grows out a little, things are cool.

It actually HELPS the look when you put it down.

:) This is just what happened to me when I layered my hair.

You can get the hairdressers to thin your hair out with layers!

its just allot of work you have to

work with it every morning for it

to look nice.

if you do get it get a face frame

also anyway if you don't like it

you can always let it grow out.

good luck and have fun with your hair

IF UR HAIR'S THICK AND CURLY I DEFINITELY DON'T THINK U SHOULD. IF UR HAIR'S THICK BUT STRAIGHT IT WILL LOOK GOOD AND BE SUPER SOFT.

i think it really depends on the texture of your "thick hair."

a pattern i have noticed about my hair is that when i get it cut (layered), it really poofs out. It takes a couple of months for my hair to flatten out again. Thus, since my last horrendously poofy hair from my last layering cut, I have not cut it in a year.

so yeah, if you get layers, it will poof out, but inevitably, it will grow out. and it will look less poofy. this has happened to a lot of my friends too.
